I Am an Actor, Part Two

Dear fairy godmother,

If I get a vote, I vote for the money.

I have been a great actor every once in a while.  I have had my transcendent moments.  I have channeled the universal truth at times. I have stilled time.  I have entered the void and brought a live audience with me.  I have wrung tears from the stomach of a man up through his heart and out his eyes.

But I don’t want to live without medical insurance and heat and I don’t want to drive a car without brakes, where the horn honks every time you press the turn signal and in which the mice sleep at night because there are so many holes in the floorboard.

Yeah, I know I told you last week that I’d rather follow my own truth than be rich, if being rich meant I would be constrained.  But.  However.  I have changed my mind since last week. It must have been My Evil Twin who said she didn’t want money.

No, wait…I want it ALL. Great artist plus tons of money.

Well, Michelle, you should come to ABQ, where lots of films are made (though our new Republican governor is trying to squelch the deal, so maybe you better hurry).

Oh, yeah…there used to be lots of incentives in NM. Are they going away?
